In the past three years, violations of state procurement in Uzbekistan have harmed state interests in the amount of 121.2 billion som. This was reported yesterday, 5 April, at a meeting of the National Anti-Corruption Council by the Chairman of the Council of Tanzila Norbayev.

It was noted that between 2018-2021, 283 criminal cases were initiated on the facts of offenses in the sphere of state procurement, the majority of which were in Syrdarya (56), Tashkent (40), Fergana (30) and Navoi (30) regions.

Criminal proceedings were initiated in 272 cases and 508 persons were held accountable.

In addition, criminal proceedings for violations of the law resulted in damage to the state interest amounting to 121.2 billion som.

It is noted that 30% of the tasks set out in the «road map» adopted in 2020 to transform the state procurement sector into a «corruption-free sector» were not fulfilled.
It should be recalled that due to the drastic measures taken to combat corruption, the number of criminal cases brought to the courts has increased by 300 percent in the banking sector, 120 percent in the education sector and 100 percent in the healthcare sector compared to the previous year.
