Abdukodir Khusanov, the Uzbekistan national team and Manchester City defender, has been compared to a man of steel for his dedication in the match against Liverpool. This was stated by journalist Jeronimo Morgans.
Commenting on the Premier League Round 25 fixture, Morgans specifically praised the 21-year-old defender for trying to stay on the pitch despite suffering an injury.
“He was injured, but he still wanted to continue playing. He wanted to help the team. Abdukodir Khusanov, you are my soldier, my brother. The pride of Uzbekistan. A man of steel,” the journalist wrote on his page.
Khusanov started in Manchester City’s away match against Liverpool. However, he was substituted in the 61st minute due to injury.
The injury occurred during a challenge for the ball with Liverpool forward Cody Gakpo. During the episode, Khusanov collided with goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma. After the collision, the defender fell to the pitch and received medical treatment. Pep Guardiola, following the doctors’ recommendation, decided not to risk the player’s health. Portuguese defender Ruben Dias replaced him. Manchester City won the match 2–1.
Following the victory over Liverpool, Manchester City moved to second place in the league table with 50 points, while London side Arsenal remain top with 56 points.
It is worth noting that after the win against Liverpool, Guardiola had described Abdukodir Khusanov as a true warrior.
