Uzbek footballer Abdukodir Khusanov, who recently joined England's "Manchester City," gave his first interview to the club's press service, expressing his ambitions and sharing insights into his journey.

"I am very happy to join this team. This club is the best team in the world. I came here to win a prize. This team is a big team, and the coach is one of the best coaches. That's why I came," Khusanov stated.

Khusanov shared details about his early days in football and how his career progressed over the years.

"At first, I started in the 'Toshkuch' team. From there, I transferred to the 'Bunyodkor' academy. I began my professional career in Belarus. At 18, I moved to France, and now, here I am in England," Khusanov recounted.

The 20-year-old central defender explained why he chose to wear the number 45 at "Manchester City" and what influenced his decision to join the club.

"During my time in Belarus, I played under the number 45, and it has stayed with me. I chose 'City' because it’s the best team with the best coach and championship. I’ve been watching "Manchester City" games since childhood. The team’s style is unique, unlike most others. I’ve always aspired to work with the best, and now I’m here," said Khusanov.

He also reflected on the challenges he faced growing up and emphasized the importance of perseverance.

"I grew up facing difficulties. There’s no stopping now. Being the first Premier League player from Uzbekistan is an honor for me and for my country. This journey will continue," he added.

Khusanov expressed optimism about Uzbekistan’s potential participation in the 2026 World Cup.

"Our focus on football is increasing day by day. Everyone wants and believes that we can make it to the World Cup. We’re just one step away," he said confidently.

When asked about his inspiration, Khusanov credited his father for playing a pivotal role in his development as a footballer.

"I used to watch my father’s football matches, which sparked my interest in the sport. My father played a significant role in helping me reach this level. After every training session and game, we would analyze mistakes and areas for improvement together," Khusanov revealed.

As a member of Uzbekistan’s national team, Khusanov signed a 4.5+1 year contract with "Manchester City". The transfer fee, including bonuses, amounted to €50 million. The move marks a significant milestone in Husanov’s career and highlights Uzbekistan’s growing presence in international football.
