No Uzbek citizens among victims of India plane crash, Foreign Ministry confirms

On June 12, it was reported that a Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner operated by Air India had crashed in Ahmedabad, Gujarat, India, resulting in the deaths of 110 people. According to preliminary information, there were no Uzbek citizens aboard the flight. This was confirmed by Ahror Burhonov, spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan.

“We received the news of the plane crash in India with deep sadness.
We express our deepest condolences to the relatives and families of those who died in this tragedy.
According to preliminary information, there were no Uzbek citizens on board the flight,” Burhonov wrote.

For reference, Flight AI171 departed from Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport in Ahmedabad at 1:38 p.m. local time, en route to London. Just minutes after takeoff, the aircraft issued an emergency call, and shortly afterward, all communication was lost. The plane crashed in an area not far from the airport.

It should be noted that earlier, President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev sent letters of condolence to Indian President Droupadi Murmu and Prime Minister Narendra Modi in connection with the crash, expressing sympathy to the Indian people and the victims' families.
