Minister of Preschool and School Education Hilola Umarova, who has been in her position for over 1.5 years, held a press conference with media and public representatives on August 28. During the conference, the minister addressed journalists' questions regarding teachers' salaries.
She reported that teachers' salaries are a key concern for the ministry and that cooperation with the Ministry of Finance is ongoing. She also mentioned that there was a presidential order to increase salaries, and a specific plan is currently being implemented.
Additionally, the Minister discussed the Ministerial Fund system, which has been operational for two years. According to her, teachers who successfully pass the system exam receive an additional 5 million soums each month. There is no limit to the number of teachers who can receive bonuses under this system, and currently, more than 6,000 teachers earn over $1,000.
For information, the Minister of Public Education’s fund provides monthly bonuses to qualified educators working in general secondary education institutions and one-time monetary awards to outstanding employees in the public education system.
