The procedure for selecting conscripts for military service in Uzbekistan has been officially determined. On July 7, the government approved the Regulation “On the Procedure for Selecting Conscripts.”
This Regulation outlines the selection process for conscripts entering military-technical training and compulsory military service in the Armed Forces of the Republic of Uzbekistan.
According to the document, conscripts may participate in the selection process only once a year. The competitive selection period spans from August 10 of the year preceding the conscription year to February 10 of the conscription year.
The following aspects are assessed during an interview with the conscript:
- Interest and enthusiasm for military service.
- Past offenses, disciplinary actions, or convictions.
- Health status.
- Educational background.
- Family circumstances, among others.
In addition, the general physical fitness of conscripts is evaluated through standardized tests:
- Pull-ups on a horizontal bar.
- A 100-meter sprint.
- A 3,000-meter run.
Based on the overall performance in the competition, a final decision is made on whether the conscript is recommended for military service.
It should be recalled that the next conscription call was announced by the Presidential Decree “On the Next Call for Conscripts of Citizens of Uzbekistan for Military Service and the Release of Conscripts Who Have Completed Their Service to the Reserve of the Armed Forces,” adopted on January 29 of this year.
According to the decree, Uzbek citizens of conscription age who do not have the right to defer or be exempt from military service will be called up during the March–April 2025 cycle.
