At the initiative of the Ministry of Justice, a draft law has been developed that provides for administrative and criminal liability for organizing and participating in illegal street races.
According to the ministry, illegal races currently being held on roads pose a serious threat to the safety of road users and public order and may lead to extremely negative consequences, including fatalities.
This situation has caused justified concern among citizens, including road users.
“Taking this into account, the Ministry of Justice has developed a draft law introducing administrative and criminal liability aimed at preventing road traffic accidents resulting from the organization of illegal street races. The document has been submitted to relevant ministries and agencies for coordination,” the statement said.
It was added that the draft law was circulated to relevant ministries and agencies for review on February 17 of this year. After being agreed upon in accordance with established procedures, it will be submitted for public discussion.
Earlier, authorities reported that necessary measures were being taken in Tashkent to prevent, detect and eliminate incidents of nighttime street racing.
