Mirziyoyev invites Emir of Kuwait to visit Uzbekistan

2496On February 17, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev of Uzbekistan and the Emir of the State of Kuwait, Sheikh Mish’al al-Sabah, held a meeting at the Al-Bayan Palace in Kuwait City, including talks with the participation of official delegations, according to a report from the President's press service.
At the beginning of the meeting, President Mirziyoyev expressed his gratitude to the Emir for the warm welcome and attention. He also offered his sincere congratulations to the Emir and the people of Kuwait on the upcoming national holidays.
The two leaders discussed further strengthening and expanding the friendly and multifaceted partnership between Uzbekistan and Kuwait.
The President particularly highlighted the success of Kuwait’s "Vision 2035" state program, noting that its goals align closely with the long-term priorities outlined in Uzbekistan's New Uzbekistan Development Strategy.
The report also emphasized, "Growing political dialogues and interdepartmental exchanges between the two nations, as well as the steady increase in mutual trade and investment".
It was mentioned that the first meeting of the Intergovernmental Commission held last year had been highly productive, with a series of key business events organized. The discussions focused on enhancing cooperation in trade and economic development, investment, innovation, and financial and technical areas.
Additionally, several priority areas for practical cooperation were identified, including "green" energy, industrial cooperation, agriculture, transport and logistics, infrastructure, urban development, healthcare, and tourism.
"An agreement was reached during the meeting between President Shavkat Mirziyoyev and Emir Sheikh Mish’al al-Sabah to establish key mechanisms, such as an Investment Platform and a Business Council, aimed at promoting joint projects. Additionally, plans were made to open a trading house in Al-Kuwait City to further boost trade relations.
As part of the new partnership program, both leaders agreed to focus on expanding the portfolio of projects with the Kuwait Fund for Arab Economic Development", the report states.
The two sides also agreed to organize culture and tourism weeks in both Uzbekistan and Kuwait, encouraging active participation from representatives of both nations in cultural and humanitarian events across various fields, including art, music, cinema, education, and sports.
The importance of mutual support within international frameworks such as the United Nations, the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, and the Non-Aligned Movement was emphasized during the talks.
The preparation for the upcoming Central Asia-Gulf Cooperation Council Dialogue Summit, which is set to take place in Samarkand in May of this year, was also discussed, with both countries coordinating joint efforts.
Additionally, the leaders exchanged views on current international and regional issues of significance.
At the conclusion of the discussions, President Mirziyoyev invited the Emir of Kuwait to visit Uzbekistan, further solidifying the commitment to developing and strengthening the comprehensive partnership between the two nations.
