Number of marriages in Uzbekistan continues to decline

In January–September 2025, a total of 177,000 marriages were registered in civil registry offices across Uzbekistan, according to the National Statistics Committee.
Of these, 91.2 thousand marriages were registered in urban areas, while 85.8 thousand took place in rural regions.
Recent years have shown a steady decline in the number of marriages. In 2021, 206.8 thousand marriages were recorded, followed by 197 thousand in 2022, 184.5 thousand in 2023, and 179.4 thousand in 2024. In the first nine months of 2025, only 177 thousand marriages were registered.
As of October 1, 2025, Uzbekistan’s population reached 38.069 million people, including 18.896 million women (49.6 percent) and 19.172 million men (50.4 percent). The population increased by 713.7 thousand people, or 1.9 percent, compared to the same period last year.
