In 2024, Uzbek youth ranked first in Central Asia in terms of admission to the world’s top 500 universities. This was announced by President Shavkat Mirziyoyev on June 30 during a meeting with young people in celebration of Youth Day.
The President warmly congratulated the youth of Uzbekistan on the occasion, highlighting their growing global achievements and potential.
“In the coming years, as our economy rapidly expands and our opportunities in all sectors increase, you — the youth — will undoubtedly make a significant contribution.
Seeing our young men, full of energy and ambition, and our girls, unmatched in knowledge, decency, and intelligence — any nation, any state, should envy us.
Why do large countries and the world’s leading companies trust us today? Why are they investing billions of dollars? This is certainly not in vain. Our partners, seeing the success of our youth in science, education, IT, culture, art, and sports, are recognizing our potential. They are convinced that the foundation of our future is strong,” the President said.
President Mirziyoyev noted that since the beginning of Uzbekistan’s reform era, the country has prioritized establishing a chain of “science – education – innovation.” According to him, these efforts are already delivering results.
He emphasized that last year, Uzbek youth not only ranked first in Central Asia for admission to the world’s top 500 universities but also achieved a historic milestone by gaining admission to the top 5 global institutions for the first time.
Today, 30 Uzbek students are studying at the world’s top 10 universities, 500 are enrolled in the top 100, and 1,500 are pursuing education at institutions ranked in the top 300 globally.
