The country's delegation, led by the Deputy Prime Minister of Uzbekistan, Jamshid Khojayev, visited Kabul. This was reported by the "Dunyo" News Agency.
During the visit, a small meeting took place between the head of the Uzbekistan delegation and the Deputy Prime Minister of the Taliban for Economic Affairs, Abdul Ghani Barodar. Ministers from both countries, including those responsible for investments, industry and trade, agriculture, water management, mining and geology, energy, and transportation, participated in the meeting.
It was noted that there are significant untapped opportunities in the economic sphere in Afghanistan and Uzbekistan, and their utilization is expected to significantly boost mutual trade. Afghan investors, business representatives, and cargo transportation expressed their gratitude to Uzbekistan for creating a new mechanism for issuing visas to truck drivers, as stated in the report.
In response, Jamshid Khojayev highlighted that the Ministry of Investments, Industry, and Trade has developed a "Roadmap" to increase bilateral trade volume to 3 billion dollars in the near future. The Uzbek side also reiterated its willingness to participate in large-scale infrastructure projects related to transport, transit, and electricity supply in Afghanistan. They intend to provide training and enhance personnel potential. Additionally, an exhibition of products produced in Afghanistan will be held in Uzbekistan.
As a result of the visit, export/import agreements were reached, totaling 1 billion 185 million dollars.
