Uzbekistan advances to AFC Asian Cup knockout stage

On February 1, the Uzbekistan national futsal team played its third group-stage match at the AFC Asian Cup. Coached by Nodir Eliboev, the team faced Japan and suffered a 1–2 defeat.
Uzbekistan opened the scoring through Shakhram Fakhriddinov, but the representatives of the Land of the Rising Sun responded with two goals to turn the match around.
As a result, Uzbekistan lost 1–2 to Japan. Nodir Eliboev’s side finished second in Group C with four points.
For reference, in Group C of the AFC Asian Cup being held in Indonesia, Japan topped the group with nine points and advanced to the knockout stage. Uzbekistan, finishing second with four points, also secured qualification for the quarterfinals.
