A land plot has been allocated for the construction of a building for a school of the Republic of Turkey in Uzbekistan. The decision was signed by the mayor of Tashkent city, Shavkat Umurzakov, on June 5 of this year.
According to the decision, a 0.31-hectare land plot (as per the boundary plan) from the settlement lands located in the Kohota MFY, Shaykhantohur district of Tashkent, will be allocated for permanent use to the Ministry of Preschool and School Education of the Republic of Uzbekistan. The purpose is to construct a school building under the Embassy of the Republic of Turkey.
The document specifies that if the circumstances outlined in Article 36 of the Land Code arise, the decision may be revoked in accordance with the established procedure.
It is worth recalling that on February 6 of this year, the then Turkish Ambassador to Uzbekistan, Olgan Bekar, met with Tashkent Mayor Shavkat Umurzakov. The ambassador thanked Umurzakov for his hospitality, informed him that his diplomatic mission in Uzbekistan was coming to an end, and reiterated several previously discussed matters, including the expansion of the Turkish school, naming a street in Tashkent after Turkey’s first president, Mustafa Kemal Ataturk, and establishing a Turkish park in the city.
For information, the Turkish school in Uzbekistan was established in 1993. In 1998, the academic lyceum began operating. Only children from families with Turkish citizenship study there, following the curriculum set by the Turkish Ministry of National Education.
