Uzbeks in Turkey cautioned: Avoid involvement in smuggling operations

10335The Consulate General of Uzbekistan in Istanbul has issued an official warning to Uzbek citizens regarding criminal groups attempting to exploit them for illegal activities. The announcement was made through the consulate’s official Telegram channel.
According to the statement, certain criminal networks have been luring Uzbek citizens with promises of large cash rewards, aiming to use them as intermediaries in smuggling illegal migrants by sea to the European Union, particularly Greece.
Authorities have emphasized that individuals involved in such activities are being prosecuted under Turkish law and are facing severe legal consequences, including:
Up to 10 years of imprisonment
- Heavy fines and deportation
- Loss of the right to permanent residence and work in Turkey
- Entry bans to Turkey and European countries
- Official Warning from the Consulate
The Consulate General of Uzbekistan in Istanbul has strongly advised Uzbek citizens not to fall for fraudulent offers and to avoid any involvement in illegal migration schemes.
