Earthquake in Tajikistan felt in Syrdarya

Today, November 5, at 10:58 a.m. Tashkent time, an earthquake occurred in Tajikistan, the Republican Center for Seismological Forecasting and Monitoring reported.

The epicenter was located 133 km southwest of Tashkent, in Sughd, Tajikistan, with a magnitude of 4.3 and a depth of 12 km. The intensity at the epicenter reached 5 on the seismic scale. Coordinates: 40.07° N latitude, 69.08° E longitude.

In Uzbekistan, the earthquake was felt in Syrdarya region with an intensity of 2–3 points, approximately 54 km from the epicenter.

It is worth noting that on the night of November 3, a strong earthquake in Afghanistan was also felt in Uzbekistan, particularly in Surkhandarya region, where the intensity reached 5 points. Videos circulating on social media showed local residents leaving their homes in fear and gathering in the streets. No official reports have yet confirmed whether buildings in the region were damaged. The earthquake in Afghanistan caused over ten fatalities.
