Tajikistan appoints new ambassador to Uzbekistan

Abdujabbor Rahmonzoda, who had served as Tajikistan’s ambassador to Uzbekistan since 4 May 2021, has been relieved of his duties, Sputnik Tajikistan reported.
According to the publication, Nasriddin Ismatullo has been appointed as the new ambassador, replacing Rahmonzoda. Prior to this appointment, Ismatullo served as First Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Tajikistan.
For reference, Nasriddin Ismatullo, a diplomat and politician, was born on 21 February 1971. He previously worked as First Deputy Foreign Minister and earlier served as Tajikistan’s ambassador to Austria, the United States, and other countries.
He graduated from the Tajik Agrarian University in 1993 and the Diplomatic Academy of Russia’s Foreign Ministry in 1996. He has worked on international organizations and international law within the Foreign Ministry and actively participated in OSCE and other international cooperation projects.
Ismatullo’s professional focus has largely centered on foreign policy, security, and international cooperation.
It is worth noting that earlier, Uzbekistan appointed a new ambassador to Turkey.
