On September 15, a bus fell into a sinkhole in the Mirzo Ulugbek district of Tashkent, Toshshahartranskhizmat JSC reported.

According to the information, at around 05:40 a.m., bus No. 101, traveling on Gulsanam Street, sank on its right side due to a sinkhole in the roadway while stopping at the TTZ market stop.

Preliminary findings indicate that the road surface weakened because of earlier water pipe installations and leakage, and the weight of the bus triggered the collapse.

The head of Bus Station No. 5 and other responsible staff arrived at the scene and took necessary measures. By 10:10 a.m., the bus was removed from the sinkhole.

“No passengers were injured in the incident. The bus has been fully restored and resumed its service on the route after being sanitized,” the company’s statement reads.

It is worth noting that earlier, in the Bagdad district of the Fergana region, a road repaired in August last year collapsed while vehicles were passing.
