Bus driver fired in Tashkent after nearly hitting pedestrians

A bus driver in Tashkent’s Sergeli district has been dismissed after failing to yield to pedestrians and putting their lives at risk, Toshshahartransxizmat JSC reported.
According to the company, at about 17:50 on March 30, driver S.A., who was operating a bus belonging to the 12th bus depot branch, failed to give way to pedestrians crossing at a designated pedestrian crossing while driving along Yangi Sergeli Street in Sergeli district.
The serious traffic violation spread widely on social media and triggered criticism from users online.
The incident was reviewed in a critical discussion attended by responsible officials. In order to prevent similar incidents in the future and put a stop to such cases, the employment contract between the driver, identified as A.S., and the company was terminated.
The case was also formally documented by officers of the Tashkent City Main Department of Internal Affairs’ Road Safety Service in accordance with established procedure.
It is worth noting that earlier, a man who harassed an underage girl on a bus in Chirchiq, Tashkent region, was sentenced to 10 days in detention.
