In 2026, 1 trillion soums will be allocated from the local budget for improving neighborhoods, constructing gastronomic streets, and upgrading irrigation systems in Tashkent. This was announced today, October 16, during a meeting chaired by President Shavkat Mirziyoyev dedicated to the comprehensive development of the capital, as well as the improvement of industrial and transport infrastructure.

According to reports, the presentation at the meeting reviewed plans for the development of the ’’Yangi Avlod’’ (New generation) special industrial zone. Established on an area of 774 hectares, the zone currently hosts 28 projects implemented on 268 hectares, with a total value of $800 million. Investors have already been identified for another 30 projects, which will be located on 300 hectares, with total investments amounting to $400 million.

For instance, the meeting also discussed a project to construct a multimodal logistics terminal in the industrial zone with an investment of $288 million. The project will be implemented in cooperation with Dubai’s DP World company. Once operational, the terminal will significantly expand the logistics capabilities of Tashkent and the Tashkent region, accelerating export and import operations.

The meeting also discussed upcoming measures to enhance the road and transport infrastructure in the capital. Based on the experience of Shota Rustaveli Street, construction work under the Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) system will begin on another ten streets across the city.

’’The measures developed to ensure road safety, regulate traffic flow, and improve the city’s appearance based on a unified design code were also discussed. It was noted that next year, 1 trillion soums will be allocated from the local budget for neighborhood improvement, the construction of gastronomic streets, and the modernization of irrigation systems,’’ the report said.

According to the report, the President emphasized that the ongoing transformations in the capital should aim to create a comfortable and modern living environment for residents, while also enhancing economic activity and entrepreneurial potential.
