Officer wounded in knife attack, suspect apprehended (video)

Today, May 19, a video circulated on social media showing that an internal affairs officer in Tashkent's Yunusabad district was stabbed. The suspect in the stabbing was apprehended. This was announced by the Ministry of Internal Affairs.

According to reports, while Inspector Safdor I. Ibragimov—serving with the Yunusabad district DIA Post-Patrol Service—was performing his duties near the underpass at the Yunusabad Dehkon Market area, a citizen whose behavior aroused suspicion was stopped and inspected. During the inspection, the citizen suddenly attacked the officer with a knife that he had on his person, inflicting a wound to his neck.

The officer was promptly taken to a hospital, and his life was saved. Following swift action, the suspect was detained.

It was determined that the suspect, identified as Kh.A., was born in 1963 in the Jizzakh region, is a resident of the Pakhtakor district of Jizzakh, and has been registered with the mental health dispensary since 2005.

At present, the Prosecutor’s Office of Yunusabad district has initiated a criminal case under Article 25 and Article 97 of the Criminal Code, and an investigation is underway. The suspect has been detained in accordance with procedural regulations.
