In accordance with a resolution issued by Tashkent city governor Shavkat Umurzakov, bus drivers in the capital will now wear traditional Uzbek headdresses every Friday. This new initiative aims to promote national values to both residents and guests of the city, as well as passengers of city buses. The announcement was made by the press service of "Tashshahartranshizmat."
"To showcase our national culture and values, bus drivers operating on routes No. 67 and 91 have begun their work today wearing traditional Uzbek headdresses," the report states.
Female drivers, too, have joined the initiative and are now wearing national dress while on duty.
It’s worth noting that in 2021, Uzbekistan’s Minister of Culture, Ozodbek Nazarbekov, announced that employees of the Ministry of Culture would also begin wearing Uzbek national headdresses as part of their work attire.
