Members of a criminal group involved in the illegal trade of precious metals have been detained in Tashkent region, the State Security Service reported.
According to the report, officers of the State Security Service’s Tashkent regional department, in cooperation with the regional Main Department of Internal Affairs, carried out operational-search measures in Ohangaron district and the cities of Angren and Almalyk. The operations were conducted to improve the criminogenic situation and put an end to the activities of criminal groups involved in the illegal trade of precious metals.
As a result, a total of 17.5 tons of sand and stones containing precious metals were seized from the homes of nine individuals, along with equipment used for processing them. Law enforcement officers also confiscated 135 grams of gold, 25 grams of marijuana, one hunting firearm, and 42 rounds of ammunition. All items were seized and documented in accordance with procedural requirements.
The seized material evidence has been sent for expert examination, and pre-investigation checks are currently underway.
It is worth noting that earlier, a 24-year-old individual was detained in Tashkent city while attempting to sell 22 rounds of ammunition for $1,300.
