Shavkat Mirziyoyev congratulates Emomali Rahmon

Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev held a telephone conversation with Tajik President Emomali Rahmon on October 5. The press service of the President of Uzbekistan reported the news.

During the conversation, Mirziyoyev sincerely congratulated Rahmon on his birthday and wished him good health, happiness, and continued prosperity for the people of Tajikistan. The head of state highlighted Rahmon’s role in strengthening Tajikistan’s independence, ensuring its sustainable development, and enhancing its international standing. He also emphasized Rahmon’s personal contribution to deepening friendly, good-neighborly, and allied relations between Uzbekistan and Tajikistan.

As part of the implementation of high-level agreements, the two leaders discussed urgent issues related to further expanding their multifaceted partnership.

Special attention was given to advancing joint efforts to shape a new agenda for practical cooperation, covering priority areas such as trade, industrial collaboration, transport, energy, agriculture, tourism, and cultural and humanitarian exchange.

The agenda and schedule of upcoming high-level bilateral and multilateral events planned to be held in both countries were also discussed.

For reference, President Emomali Rahmon was born on October 5, 1952, in the Dangara district of Tajikistan. He graduated from the Faculty of Economics of Tajik State University in 1982 and has served as President of Tajikistan since 1994. In the most recent elections held in October 2020, Rahmon was elected president for the fifth time, receiving 90.92% of the vote. Today, he turns 73.

It is worth noting that on September 29 of this year, President Emomali Rahmon and Russian President Vladimir Putin also held a telephone conversation.
