Mirziyoyev acknowledges athletes’ hard work in international competitions

Uzbekistan’s President Shavkat Mirziyoyev extended his congratulations to the national hockey team and athletics competitors for their achievements in international competitions. The announcement was made by Presidential Press Secretary Sherzod Asadov.
The statement emphasized that President Mirziyoyev has been closely following and appreciating the accomplishments of Uzbek athletes.
The national hockey team recently achieved remarkable success in the World Championship held in Armenia, securing victory in their division and earning the right to compete in the third division next season. Before this, in March 2025, Uzbekistan’s U-18 hockey team triumphed at the World Championship in Thailand.
“These victories are the result of relentless dedication, skill, strong determination, and resilience of our athletes. Furthermore, it highlights the importance of state policies and investment in sports development. Uzbekistan has significantly improved its sports infrastructure, established new academies, and created better conditions for professional athlete training,” Asadov stated.
Meanwhile, Uzbek athletes also excelled at the Asian Athletics Championship in Saudi Arabia for competitors under 18 years old, winning a total of 12 medals—3 gold, 5 silver, and 4 bronze—marking Uzbekistan’s best-ever finish as the second-place team in overall standings.
President Mirziyoyev extended his heartfelt congratulations to the hockey and athletics champions, as well as expressing gratitude to their parents, coaches, and mentors for their dedication.
Earlier, on April 21, President Mirziyoyev also congratulated Uzbekistan’s football team for winning the Asian Championship in Saudi Arabia.
