Uzbek man suspected of rape detained in Russia

An Uzbek citizen has been detained in Russia on suspicion of committing rape. This was reported by "Moskovsky Komsomolets", citing law enforcement agencies.

According to reports, on the night of May 29, a resident of St. Petersburg contacted police after witnessing an act of violence in the courtyard of his apartment building. It was later confirmed that a woman had been raped during the incident. The victim was taken to a hospital, where she informed doctors about what had occurred. She was later discharged in satisfactory condition.

A citizen of Uzbekistan was detained as the primary suspect. Authorities noted that he neither holds official employment nor is registered in Russia. A criminal case has been opened against him under Article 131 of the Russian Criminal Code (rape).

It is worth noting that an Uzbek citizen was also previously arrested in South Korea for allegedly luring two elementary school children into his car and sexually assaulting them.
