A family of Uzbek citizens living in difficult circumstances in Novosibirsk, Russia, has been returned to Uzbekistan, Dunyo reported.
According to the report, diplomats and local authorities in Novosibirsk coordinated efforts to obtain the necessary documents and issue certificates for the family, which included young children, enabling their return home. The family was escorted from Novosibirsk International Airport back to Uzbekistan.
For reference, July 30 is observed as World Day against Trafficking in Persons. From July 30 to August 30, Uzbekistan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Employment, the Migration Agency, the Committee for Family and Women, and law enforcement agencies are running a charity campaign called “Return to the Homeland.” The initiative focuses on repatriating Uzbek citizens facing hardship abroad and ensuring their effective reintegration.
Priority is being given to women and children held in deportation centers in countries including Turkey, Russia, Kazakhstan, the UAE, Saudi Arabia, India, the United States, and South Korea.
It is worth noting that five Uzbek citizens in a similar situation in Aktobe, Kazakhstan, were also repatriated.
