Russia may introduce an oral section to the Russian language proficiency test for migrants starting in 2026. A working group has already been established for this purpose, including representatives from the IT sector. This was reported by Anzor Muzaev, head of the Federal Service for Supervision in Education and Science (Rosobrnadzor), to RIA Novosti.
“We have formed a working group and are actively working on it. I believe that by the beginning of next year, we will submit a proposal to the commission for discussion. There are commissions under the government and the State Duma. If our proposal is supported, we may soon introduce an oral section to the language tests for foreigners, possibly as early as 2026,” Muzaev said.
He added that Russia already has the necessary technology for conducting oral tests, similar to those used in the Unified State Exam for foreign languages.
“But there are challenges related to processing results, setting grades, and recruiting personnel. Our task is to make this process as efficient as possible,” Muzaev noted.
It should be recalled that earlier, deputies from the Liberal Democratic Party of Russia (LDPR), led by Leonid Slutsky, submitted a bill to the government proposing to abolish the provision of old-age social pensions for foreign citizens.
