An assistant prosecutor was detained while receiving a bribe in Tashkent Oblast. This was reported by the General Prosecutor’s Office.

It is noted that on 1 November, the assistant prosecutor of the Piskent district was caught while receiving a bribe in the course of an operational search action conducted jointly with the Tashkent Regional Prosecutor’s Office and officials of the regional State security service.

He attempted to fraudulently obtain $1,500 in exchange for a promise to commute the sentence of a criminal defendant in court.

On 2 November, criminal proceedings were instituted under articles 168 (fraud) and 28, 211 (bribery) of the Criminal Code.

At present, the suspect is under procedural detention. Investigative actions are being taken in connection with the situation.
