Bus carrying 47 passengers overturns in Navoi, leaving two dead

On January 5, a bus carrying 47 passengers overturned in Tomdi district of Navoi region, resulting in the deaths of two people. The regional Department of Internal Affairs reported the incident.

According to the report, the accident occurred at approximately 7:40 a.m. on the A-379 Navoi–Uchkuduk highway of international significance, at the 167–168 kilometer mark, passing through the Tomdibuloq rural community in Tomdi district.

Preliminary investigations indicate that the technically sound ZHONG TONG BUS, traveling along the Zarafshan–Navoi route, was being driven by a man born in 1986 with 17 years of driving experience. The driver lost control of the vehicle, veered off to the right side of the road in the direction of travel, and the bus overturned, resulting in a traffic accident.

As a result of the accident, two passengers died at the scene from injuries sustained. Nine other passengers who suffered various injuries were hospitalized.

“The Navoi regional Department of Internal Affairs is currently conducting a comprehensive investigation into the circumstances of the incident, providing assistance to the victims and their families, and assessing the legal responsibility related to the conditions that led to the severe consequences,” the statement said.
