On March 31 of this year, a 10th-grade student of school No. 23 in the Uchkurgan district of the Namangan region caused the death of a child while driving a Cobalt car belonging to his father. This was reported by the regional Road Safety Department.

According to the report, the teenager, while operating the vehicle without proper authorization, failed to ensure road safety and struck a 4th-grade student from the same school who was crossing the road. The victim later died in the hospital as a result of the injuries sustained.

It was noted that at the time of the incident, no adults were present at home when the 10th-grader took the car.

A criminal case has been initiated by the Uchkurgan District Investigation Department against the minor under Part 2 of Article 266 of the Criminal Code (violation of rules for the safe operation or use of vehicles). Investigations are currently ongoing.

It is worth recalling that earlier in the Namangan region, a separate incident occurred where two individuals—a girl’s mother and sister—died after a Spark vehicle driven by an unlicensed 16-year-old girl fell into a canal. The girl and her father, who had given her the car, were hospitalized.
