President Shavkat Mirziyoyev of Uzbekistan held a phone conversation today, November 11, with Russian President Vladimir Putin. The press services of both leaders reported the call.

“The leaders discussed current issues related to the further development and strengthening of the comprehensive strategic partnership and alliance between Uzbekistan and Russia, within the framework of agreements reached at the highest level,” the Uzbek presidential press service said in a statement.

Special attention was given to maintaining the momentum of trade turnover growth, advancing cooperation in priority sectors of the economy, including joint energy projects, and expanding business ties and cultural and humanitarian exchanges between the regions.

The sides also expressed satisfaction with the outcomes of the second meeting of the Uzbekistan–Russia Interregional Cooperation Council, held on October 22 in the Moscow region. They underscored the importance of effectively organizing the next meeting of the Uzbekistan–Russia Intergovernmental Commission, scheduled for December 3, as well as the joint business forum to be held on its sidelines.

“Current international issues were discussed, and the parties agreed to maintain regular contacts at various levels,” the Kremlin said in its statement.

It should be noted that Presidents Mirziyoyev and Putin also held a phone conversation on October 14. In November, Mirziyoyev visited Washington, where he met with U.S. President Donald Trump and participated in the C5+1 summit alongside other Central Asian leaders.
