Mirziyoyev meets with head of the World Triathlon Union

On May 26, President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev received Antonio Fernandez Arimani, President of the World Triathlon Union, who is visiting the country as part of the Triathlon and Paratriathlon World Cup in Samarkand. The meeting was reported by the press service of the President.

During the meeting, the sides discussed ways to further expand practical cooperation with the global organization, particularly in promoting triathlon and supporting the national triathlon program in Uzbekistan.

“It was noted with satisfaction that triathlon is developing rapidly in our country. The National Federation is actively functioning, international competitions are being held regularly, and Uzbek athletes are steadily improving their positions in continental and global rankings,” the official statement reads.

Particular attention was paid to enhancing collaboration in athlete, coach, referee, and sports manager training, as well as the development of modern infrastructure and the implementation of expert support programs.

For reference, the Silk Road Samarkand International Tourism Center is currently hosting prestigious events—the World Triathlon Cup Samarkand 2025 and the World Triathlon Para Cup Samarkand 2025. These competitions, part of the official World Cup series in triathlon and paratriathlon, have attracted top athletes from more than 30 countries. The events began on May 19 and will continue through May 27.
