Mirziyoyev holds face-to-face negotiation with “Arkadag”

Today, August 22, at the Congress center of Turkmenistan’s “Avaza” national tourist zone, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev held face-to-face talks with the National leader of the Turkmen people and Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, with the participation of official delegations, the press service of the President of Uzbekistan reported.

At the beginning of the meeting, the Turkmen leader conveyed to President Mirziyoyev the greetings and best wishes of Turkmenistan’s President Serdar Berdimuhamedov. The President of Uzbekistan, in turn, once again congratulated the country’s leadership and the brotherly Turkmen people on the successful hosting earlier this month in Avaza of the Third UN Conference on Landlocked Developing Countries.

Within the framework of implementing high-level agreements, the parties discussed pressing issues of further expanding and strengthening Uzbekistan–Turkmenistan relations of friendship, good-neighborliness, and strategic partnership.

It was noted with great satisfaction that mutually beneficial cooperation is rapidly developing in all areas. In preparation for upcoming high-level meetings, the importance of effectively holding meetings of intergovernmental commissions, the Business Council, as well as several cultural events, was emphasized. The leaders also exchanged views on the agenda of the forthcoming Seventh Consultative Meeting of the Heads of State of Central Asia. In this context, the significance of negotiations in the “Azerbaijan–Turkmenistan–Uzbekistan” format was underlined.

Furthermore, the President of Uzbekistan will take part in the trilateral meeting in the “Azerbaijan–Turkmenistan–Uzbekistan” format and hold bilateral talks today. According to the agenda of the event, which will be held in the “Avaza” national tourist zone, issues of developing multilateral cooperation, primarily in the areas of trade and economy, transport and communications, energy, and humanitarian spheres, will be discussed. The signing of a number of joint documents is also expected.

It is worth noting that earlier, the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev has arrived in Turkmenistan. At the airport in the city of Turkmenbashi, the Head of State was welcomed by Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of Turkmenistan Nokerkuli Atagulyev and other officials.
