Mirziyoyev discusses the international situation with “Arkadag”

President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev and National Leader of the Turkmen People, Chairman of the People's Council of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, held a detailed discussion on strengthening Uzbek-Turkmen strategic partnership and expanding multifaceted cooperation during a telephone conversation on December 5. This was reported by the presidential press service. 

The National Leader of the Turkmen People conveyed greetings and best wishes from the President of Turkmenistan, Serdar Berdimuhamedov, to Shavkat Mirziyoyev.  

"The parties focused on the progress of implementing previously reached agreements and preparations for upcoming high-level meetings," the report states.  

It was noted with satisfaction that mutual dialogue and exchanges have significantly intensified. Last month, Turkmenistan hosted the Forum of Regions, an industrial exhibition, and the Days of Uzbek Culture. Additionally, Ashgabat saw the presentation of a collection of works by the renowned thinker and poet Makhtumkuli Firugi in Uzbek, along with the screening of a jointly produced feature film about him.  

"Since the beginning of the year, trade volume has exceeded $1 billion. Cargo transportation, including through the port of Turkmenbashi, has increased. Construction of the 'Shovot-Tashovuz' border zone is ongoing. Cooperation in industry, agriculture, transport, and other sectors continues to grow," the report highlights.  

Prospects for further development of collaboration in energy and water resource management were also discussed. The leaders exchanged views on current international and regional issues.  

During the conversation, Shavkat Mirziyoyev warmly congratulated Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov on the upcoming Neutrality Day and wished prosperity and well-being to the fraternal Turkmen people.  

It should be recalled that Mirziyoyev and Berdimuhamedov last met in Ashgabat on October 11, followed by a phone call on October 14.
