President Mirziyoyev offers condolences to India over plane crash

President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev has sent a letter of condolences to the President of India, Droupadi Murmu, and Prime Minister Narendra Modi following a tragic plane crash in the city of Ahmedabad that resulted in numerous deaths and serious injuries. The message was reported by Presidential Spokesperson Sherzod Asadov.

“The Head of State expressed his deep condolences to the families and loved ones of the victims, as well as to the entire Indian people, and wished a speedy recovery to the injured,” Asadov wrote.

The tragic incident occurred on June 12, when an Air India Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner crashed in Ahmedabad, Gujarat. Flight AI171 had departed from Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport at 1:38 p.m. local time, bound for London. However, just minutes after takeoff, the aircraft issued an emergency signal and subsequently lost contact. The plane crashed not far from the airport. According to preliminary reports, the crash claimed the lives of 110 people.
