Bank officials detained for demanding a share of loans

Bank employees who allegedly demanded a share in exchange for allocating nearly 3.5 billion soums in loans were detained in Fergana and Samarkand regions. The Department for Combating Economic Crimes under the Prosecutor General’s Office reported this.

According to the department, during an operation conducted by its Fergana regional office in cooperation with other law enforcement agencies, R.S., the head of a commercial bank’s banking services center, gained the trust of citizen F.R., who had applied for a loan to carry out business activities. He allegedly promised to help allocate a loan of 2.5 billion soums and demanded 5% of the loan amount, or 125 million soums, in advance. He was caught with physical evidence while receiving $10,000 from this amount.

In another case in Samarkand region, D.I., the head of a commercial bank’s banking services center, was caught with physical evidence while returning 10.7 million soums from $2,150 he had received in exchange for allocating a $75,000 loan to D.M., the head of D.D. LLC.

Criminal cases have been opened under the relevant articles of the Criminal Code, and investigative actions are underway.

Earlier, it was reported that two officials had been detained in Andijan region for abusing their official powers and demanding money from citizens.
