Colombia’s win keeps Uzbekistan’s chances alive

Colombia defeated DR Congo 1-0 in the second round of the 2026 World Cup group stage on June 23. This result kept Uzbekistan national team’s chances of reaching the next stage alive.

After the heavy defeat against Portugal, Uzbek fans turned their attention to the Colombia-DR Congo match. Colombia’s victory made the situation in the group even more interesting and preserved Uzbekistan’s chances of advancing.

Now, if Uzbekistan defeats DR Congo in the third round, the team may be able to finish among the best third-placed teams.

Colombia currently has six points after two rounds and has secured a place in the playoffs ahead of schedule. Portugal also earned an important three points and moved closer to the next stage.

Uzbekistan’s final group-stage match will be held in Atlanta on June 28 at 4:30 a.m. Tashkent time.

Earlier, it was reported that the match between Uzbekistan and Portugal ended in a 5-0 victory for the Portuguese side.
