Student dies after being struck by Cobalt in Kitob (video)

Yesterday, October 14, in Kitob district of Kashkadarya region, a Cobalt vehicle, attempting to overtake the car in front at high speed, struck a 9th-grade student returning from school near the roadside. The student died as a result of the incident, according to QALAMPIR.UZ.

According to sources, the child was initially taken to the hospital in critical condition. However, on October 15, between 10:00 and 11:00 am, it was reported that the child had passed away.

The regional Traffic Safety department also commented on the incident, though it did not provide information regarding the child’s death.

According to the Traffic Safety department of Kashkadarya, yesterday, October 14, around 12:00 pm, in the Kitob district, a Cobalt vehicle traveling on the locally significant 70V004 (4K273) ’’Kitob–Palandaraq–Narimon’’ road, at the 21st kilometer near the Narimon neighborhood, attempted to overtake another car by moving into the oncoming lane. The driver lost control of the vehicle, striking a pedestrian and causing a road traffic accident.

’’The pedestrian sustained bodily injuries and was admitted to the district hospital. Currently, a criminal case has been opened, and investigative actions are underway regarding the incident,’’ the department said.

It is worth noting that earlier, a Nexia-3 vehicle hit two schoolchildren crossing a pedestrian crossing in the Andijan region. As a result, the minor N.I. suffered an injury to the left leg and was hospitalized at the Andijan branch of the Republican Scientific Center for Emergency Medical Care. The second pedestrian, N.Y., did not sustain any injuries.
