With the assistance of the National Central Bureau of Interpol of Uzbekistan, the location of an internationally wanted Uzbek citizen was identified in the United States, and he has now been extradited to Uzbekistan. This was reported by the press service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
According to the report, the extradition was made possible through the information support of Uzbekistan’s Interpol Bureau and close cooperation with the U.S. Embassy in Tashkent. The wanted individual had been sought by Uzbek law enforcement agencies on charges of large-scale fraud, as defined under Part 4 of Article 168 (Fraud) of the Criminal Code.
“As a result of negotiations, joint operational efforts, and mutual information exchange between the Interpol Bureau of Uzbekistan and the relevant U.S. authorities, a decision was made to deport the individual from U.S. territory,” the statement reads.
The suspect was transferred under the supervision of officers from U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) to Islam Karimov International Airport, where he was handed over to Uzbekistan’s Interpol Bureau for prosecution.
It is worth noting that earlier, in a separate case, an Uzbek citizen suspected of large-scale fraud was detained in Kazakhstan. At the request of the Kazakh Ministry of Internal Affairs, Russian authorities approved the suspect’s extradition from Moscow.
