Dinosaur bones believed to belong to a species that lived around 70 million years ago have been discovered in Karakalpakstan, “Uzbekistan-24” TV channel reported.
The discovery was made as a result of joint research conducted by scientists from Berdakh Karakalpak State University and specialists from the State Geological Museum of Uzbekistan. According to experts, the unearthed bones may have belonged to a giant dinosaur.
Ahmadjon Ahmadshayev, Director of the State Geological Museum of Uzbekistan, stated that fragments of the dinosaur’s vertebrae, leg bones, and other skeletal parts were found at the research site. He noted that the remains date back to the Cretaceous period, and their exact species will be determined after laboratory analyses and expert evaluations by international specialists.
Once the research is completed, the dinosaur bones will be handed over to the State Geological Museum of Uzbekistan.
