A new 450-kilometer railway will link Kashgar in China with Andijan in Uzbekistan, as announced by the Andijan regional government's press service.

On June 6, an agreement to implement the strategic "China-Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan" railway project was signed in Beijing. President Shavkat Mirziyoyev emphasized the importance of this project for Uzbekistan during the signing ceremony.

"This railway will establish the shortest land route between China and Uzbekistan. It will also facilitate access to the broader markets of South Asia and the Middle East via the Trans-Afghan corridor," President Mirziyoyev stated.

The primary objectives of this project include the creation of new economically viable enterprises, generating tens of thousands of jobs, increasing mutual trade volumes, expanding industrial cooperation, and enhancing investment appeal. The railway will offer entrepreneurs convenient and cost-effective freight transportation, with initial estimates projecting 12-15 million tons of cargo per year.
