Uzbekistan restructures Agricultural bodies with Silk Committee abolishment

10527The Committee for the Development of the Silk and Wool Industry will be abolished, according to a decree signed by President Shavkat Mirziyoyev on January 30. The decree, titled “On measures to introduce modern mechanisms for the protection and rational use of pastures,” outlines the restructuring of responsibilities previously held by the Silk Committee.
Under the new decree, the functions of the Silk Committee will be redistributed among various committees and ministries as follows:
- Tasks related to pasture management will be transferred to the Committee for the Development of Veterinary Medicine and Livestock.
- Tasks related to cocoon production and silkworm breeding will be reassigned to the Ministry of Agriculture and the Uzbekipaksanoat association.
- The Scientific Research Institute of Karakul Farming and Steppe Ecology, as well as the Bukhara Scientific and Production Center for Seed Production of Steppe and Pasture Fodder Plants, will move under the Veterinary Committee.
- The Scientific Research Institute of Silk and the Scientific Research Institute of Natural Fibers of Uzbekistan will be transferred to the Ministry of Agriculture.
