Fergana gas station blast leaves survivors in critical condition

On December 17, a devastating explosion at a gas station in Fergana City claimed the lives of four individuals and injured several others. The Fergana Regional Health Department has provided updates on the condition of the injured and the deceased.

According to the department, 13 injured citizens were brought to the Fergana branch of the Republican Scientific Center for Emergency Medical Assistance following the incident, which occurred around 2:00 p.m. One of the victims was pronounced dead upon arrival and sent for forensic examination.

By 3:00 p.m. on the same day, two patients in the pediatric intensive care unit succumbed to their injuries despite receiving medical care. They had sustained 90% thermal burns covering multiple parts of their bodies and severe respiratory injuries caused by inhalation.

In the neurosurgical intensive care unit, three patients with 70-90% second and third-degree burns are in extremely critical condition. A woman admitted to this unit also passed away at 11:25 p.m. despite intensive treatment. Her body has been sent for forensic examination.

Four individuals in the combustiology department are being treated for second and third-degree burns covering 20% of their bodies. Their condition is described as stable but moderately severe.

Three other citizens, who sustained minor burns, were examined and discharged the same day in satisfactory condition.

Currently, six patients remain hospitalized and are receiving treatment under the supervision of specialized medical teams from Tashkent.

This tragic event has shocked the Fergana community, prompting calls for improved safety measures at gas stations. Authorities are investigating the cause of the explosion to prevent such incidents in the future.
