In Uzbekistan, employees will now be paid at 1.5 times the regular rate for the first two hours of overtime in a single day, and at 2 times the regular rate for any additional hours. This provision is included in Law No. 1095, adopted on November 11, 2025.

The law introduces amendments and additions aimed at clarifying the powers of the Migration Agency, expanding the rights and responsibilities of private employment agencies, and improving the system of overtime compensation.

Under the new regulations, private employment agencies are granted the following rights:

  • To organize training courses for job seekers in vocational skills and foreign languages in accordance with established procedures, including involving foreign employers in the process;
  • To independently manage interest income earned from depositing reserved funds in commercial banks.

Additionally, changes to the Labor Code remove the previous restriction that limited overtime work to no more than 120 hours per year.

The law also confirms that overtime pay must now be calculated at a minimum of 1.5 times the standard rate for the first two hours in a day and 2 times the standard rate for any hours beyond that.

It is worth noting that this follows earlier reforms in Uzbekistan, including the first-time guarantee of citizens’ right to strike.
