Earlier, it was reported that a 15-year-old girl was sexually assaulted by four young men in the city of Angren, Tashkent region. On July 24, Children’s Ombudsman Surayyo Rakhmonova personally reviewed the case and met with the victim. This was announced by her press service.

The Ombudsman first visited Angren Children's Hospital, where the minor, identified as S.Y., is currently receiving treatment. She assessed the child’s overall condition and treatment process and reviewed the relevant medical documentation concerning her illnesses and care.

“The Children’s Ombudsman had an individual conversation with S.Y. and listened to the child’s perspective,” the statement said.

It was emphasized that doctors are taking all necessary medical steps to treat S.Y. for her conditions, which include acute arthritis, bilateral bronchopneumonia, protein-energy malnutrition, severe anemia, and sepsis.

The report clarified that these health conditions are chronic and not the result of a criminal incident.

It was also noted that a criminal case involving S.Y. was opened on April 9, and preliminary investigative procedures are currently underway. The Children’s Ombudsman continues to monitor the legal proceedings within the scope of her authority. She emphasized the importance of ensuring that procedural and investigative actions involving a minor victim are conducted in a manner that avoids additional stress or psychological harm. She also instructed that a qualified teacher and psychologist be present during these proceedings.

In addition, representatives from the Angren branch of the “Inson” Social Services Center, under the National Agency for Social Protection, discussed the social and psychological support being provided in this case.

The center’s specialists have been systematically working with S.Y. and her family for an extended period, implementing comprehensive measures aimed at protecting and rehabilitating the child and offering necessary social support to the family.

We recall that earlier, an Uzbek citizen who was sexually abused by her stepfather in Turkey was returned to Uzbekistan.
