Berdimuhamedov congratulates Mirziyoyev on his 68th birthday

Today, July 24, the President of Turkmenistan, Serdar Berdimuhamedov, extended his congratulations to the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev, on his birthday. This was reported by the State News Agency of Turkmenistan (TDH).

“I sincerely believe that under your wise and far-sighted leadership, Uzbekistan will achieve even greater success. We highly value your contribution to strengthening the traditionally friendly and strategic relations between our countries and look forward to further expanding bilateral cooperation for the benefit of our peoples,” the congratulatory message reads.

President Berdimuhamedov wished Shavkat Mirziyoyev good health, happiness, family harmony, and new achievements in his state activities, as well as peace, development, and prosperity for the Uzbek people.

Shavkat Miromonovich Mirziyoyev was born on July 24, 1957, in the Zamin district of the Jizzakh region into a family of doctors. He is of Uzbek nationality. He graduated from the Tashkent Institute of Irrigation and Agricultural Mechanization Engineers in 1981 with a degree in mechanical engineering. He holds a Candidate of Technical Sciences degree and is an Associate Professor.

He began his career in 1981 at the Tashkent Institute of Irrigation and Agricultural Mechanization Engineers, working as a junior research fellow, senior lecturer, associate professor, and vice-rector for academic affairs.

In 1990, he was elected a deputy of the Supreme Soviet of the Republic and simultaneously served as chairman of the Mandate Commission.

In 1992, he was appointed khokim of the Mirzo Ulugbek district of Tashkent. He later served as governor of the Jizzakh region from 1996 to 2001 and governor of the Samarkand region from 2001 to 2003, making significant contributions to the socio-economic development of these regions.

Alongside his executive roles, he was also a deputy of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan from 1995 to 2003, actively participating in the development and adoption of important legislative acts on political and socio-economic development and the implementation of democratic reforms.

Shavkat Mirziyoyev was approved as Prime Minister of the Republic of Uzbekistan in 2003 and was reapproved for this position three times by the chambers of the Oliy Majlis—in 2005, 2010, and 2015.

He won the presidential elections in 2016, 2021, and 2023 and was elected President of Uzbekistan.
