Renowned composer Dilorom Omonullaeva passes away at 65

Renowned Uzbek composer, Honored Worker of Culture of Uzbekistan, and Professor Dilorom Omonullaeva passed away on May 31 at the age of 65. The news was shared by Professor Oydin Abdullayeva of the State Conservatory of Uzbekistan on her Facebook page.

“A true daughter of the Uzbek people and a brilliant creator, Dilorom Omonullaeva passed away today. Throughout her life, she contributed immensely to the development of Uzbek musical art and left behind a rich musical legacy,” Abdullayeva wrote.

For reference, Dilorom Omonullaeva was a laureate of the Order of Friendship, recipient of the “Ofarin” award, and a recognized Worker of Arts. She was born on October 1, 1959, in Tashkent into a family of musicians. Between 1990 and 1993, she served as a teacher at the Department of Composition and Instrumentation at the conservatory.

Modern pop music formed the core of Omonullaeva’s creative work. She composed more than 100 songs on a wide range of themes, setting to music the poetry of notable contemporary writers such as Usmon Azim, Yodgor Obid, Pulat Mumin, Zulfiya Muminova, Halima Khudoiberdieva, and others.

Among her most beloved songs are “Men seni hech kimga bermayman,” “Yomg‘ir yog‘di (Rain Fell),” “Saraton (Cancer),” “Siz yoqqansiz menga hamisha (I Have Always Liked You),” “Ikki daraxt (Two Trees),” “Sen qaydasan (Where Are You),” “Azizim (My Dear),” “Baxtiyorim (My Happiness),” “Yashnayver O'zbekiston (Thrive, Uzbekistan),” “Qora atlas (Black Satin),” “Armon bo'lmasin (May There Be No Dream),” “Ko‘nglim qushi qo‘lingda  (My Soul Is in Your Hand,” “Yig'lama (Don't Cry),” “Yolg'on Dunyo,” “Otash Zamon,” “Bilsang Edi,” and many others. These works were performed by celebrated pop artists including Kumush Razzakova, Kozim Kayumov, Mavluda Oynakulova, Alo Rakhimova, Ra'no Buranova, and others.

It is worth recalling that on May 27, Mikhail Kaminsky, an actor and Honored Artist of Uzbekistan best known for his role as Manukyan in the TV series “Shaytanat,” also passed away at the age of 72.
