Father and son killed in Angren by drunk driver

Reports have circulated on social media that a father and his son were fatally struck by a car in the city of Angren, Tashkent region, and that the driver fled the scene. QALAMPIR.UZ contacted the press service of the regional Road Safety Department to clarify the incident.

According to the department, the tragic accident occurred on May 27 at around 20:30 in the "Navbahor" neighborhood (MFY) of Angren city. A Matiz vehicle, driven by an intoxicated driver, was traveling along the 13th lane of the neighborhood when it struck two pedestrians near House No. 11.

The pedestrians—a father and son—were reportedly crossing the road from right to left at a location not designated for pedestrian crossing when they were hit. One of the victims died at the scene, while the other succumbed to injuries in the hospital.

No further details about the driver or the investigation have been released at this time.

It is worth noting that a similar fatal incident recently occurred in the Fergana region, where a man was sentenced to 8 years and 6 months in prison for intentionally running over another person with a car.
