16-year-old teenager drowns in river in Andijan (video)

A 16-year-old teenager drowned in a river in Baliqchi district of Andijan region on May 16 this year, the regional prosecutor’s office reported.

According to the information, Q.M., a resident of Baliqchi district, contacted the regional Department of Internal Affairs and said that his minor child, M.M., born in 2009, had left home on May 16 and had not returned. He asked for practical assistance in finding him. Based on the report, the Baliqchi District Prosecutor’s Office launched a pre-investigation inquiry.

It was established that at around 3:30 p.m. on May 16, the minor, M.M., went swimming with his friends in the Karadarya River, which flows through the Sarnavul mahalla in the district, and drowned. During search operations, M.M.’s body was found today, May 20, near the Karadarya bridge connecting Andijan and Namangan.

The inquiry is ongoing. The regional prosecutor’s office is supervising the process, and a legal decision will be made based on its results.

Earlier, a 25-year-old man died after being swept away by a powerful mudflow in Dehkanabad district of Kashkadarya region.
