Two Uzbeks who kidnapped a Kyrgyz citizen demanded $50,000 from his relatives. This was reported by “Kabar.kg” publication.

According to the National Security Committee of the Kyrgyz Republic, on 23 October 2022, two people of Namangan origin kidnapped a Kyrgyz citizen from his home and took him to the Namangan region of Uzbekistan.

On 28 February 2023, the sister of the abducted person appealed to the relevant authorities. On 7 March of this year, the missing citizen was returned to Kyrgyzstan and handed over to his close relatives during a joint operation with the security services of Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan.

According to information, the prisoner who was transported through the “Baymak” post was held captive in the territory of Uzbekistan for 5 months.

“At the moment, appropriate measures are being taken by the State Security Service of the Republic of Uzbekistan to prosecute those arrested,” the report says.
